BYRON POP FESTIVAL-30TH ANNIVERSARY

November 9th, 2012

The second Atlanta International Pop Festival was held over the July 4 weekend in 1970, in the small Middle Georgia town of Byron. With an estimated crowd between 300,000 and 500,000, this was the largest audience ever for rock icon Jimi Hendrix. This event also introduced southern rock music and the Allman Brothers Band to the world. This 90-minute radio documentary, produced in cooperation with David Price and WGXA-TV, ran on several southeastern rock stations in 2000.
